Fayette County

Fayette County is located in South central West Virginia, and is a well known destination for the outdoor enthusiast, with a wide variety of recreational activities. It is a premier dista\ination for white water rafting, rock climbing, and mountain biking, as well as the host of "Bridge Day", the premier BASE jumping event in the nation. Coal mining was the economic driver of the county from the late 1800's thru the late 1900's, but tourism is now the major industry. The New River Goge National Park and Preserve provides a rich resource for numerous activities. There a numerous lodging and dining opportunities in the county.

Population: 40,678.  61.5 per square mile.
